Pocket diary, probably kept by Captain Albert B. Ross, Company "A", 20 Georgia Regiment, C. S. A., during operations in Virginia. Includes brief entries entries recording the movements and activities of his unit, living conditions, notes about comrades, deaths, injuries, morale, battles (including the battle of Malvern Hill), accounts of clothing and supplies recieved for the company, etc. A note pencilled onto the front pastedown of the volume reads: "Diary of a Rebel Officer taken from his body after the battle of Sharpsburg Md by J. Stuart."
